The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the biggest movie success of the last decade, so it’s not surprising that the series has found many followers. An empty laugh, however, raises the comparison of Chris Pratt, who compared “Avengers: Game Over” with “Jurassic World 3”. Such success has to be earned by many great movies, and the dinosaur series has only one.
The “Jurassic World” series has its ears in both cases. Both contemporary productions modeled on the “Jurassic Park” eagerly use the numerous threads and motifs appearing in the original trilogy, but without much understanding why they worked then. As a result, nice references for fans quickly turned into mindless copying. Preying on nostalgia was not just about the script.
Almost all marketing of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” revolved around the figure of Dr. Ian Malcolm, played by Jeff Goldblum. The actor was sent everywhere, and his name even appeared in promotional materials made by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. There was only one small problem – Goldblum appeared in the sequel “Jurassic World” in just one scene (divided between the beginning and the end of the movie), which translated into less than two minutes of screen presence.
That is why the current assurances of Chris Pratt that “Jurassic World 3” will be like “Avengers: Game Over” should be taken with a lot of distance.
The star appearing in the MCU as Star-Lord was asked by Ellen Degeneres whether the 3rd part of the “Jurassic World” series will be its final. Pratt’s reply is strictly linked to September’s information that important members of the cast of “Jurassic Park” – Laura Dern, Sam Neil and the aforementioned Jeff Goldblum will appear in the production:
I feel like it’s over. I must not say anything … Everyone is in this film. Virtually everyone. Maybe I just talked, but I don’t care. I know that the entire cast of the original “Jurassic Park” will return. So it will be something similar to how “Avengers: Endgame” combined everything into one.
It sounds really encouraging, but after all, history knows a lot of cases, where the announced loud returns turned out to be nothing more than a cameo without any idea of using the former hero. It remains to be hoped that in “Jurassic World 3” the characters Goldblum, Neil and Dern will actually get something sensible to do. Another thing is that Pratt’s comparison is controversial for one more reason.
In the MCU we will find several weak films, but almost nothing as tragic as both parts of “Jurassic World”.
Simply put, Marvel has worked hard for years to make “Avengers: Endgame” something as exciting, moving and bombastically impressive as “Avengers: Endgame.” It’s not enough to throw all the characters known to the viewer into one pot and stir to create a great movie. Even Warner Bros. found this painfully. and DC. MCU was not created in one day. Almost every member of the Avengers team got a chance to appear in this story. The viewers could get used to them and like them. Even the third-level heroes got their moments.
And what did we remember the right characters from Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom? Two protagonists mainly from idiotic decisions and running away in heels from Tyrannosaur Rex. The rest is not even worth mentioning, because either she is dead brutally murdered by dinosaurs, or she stood out with absolutely nothing. If the creators of the third part of the series believe that it is enough to mechanically throw the heroes to an island full of prehistoric animals to make a successful film, they have learned nothing after the defeats of the 1997 and 2001 sequels. I won’t be surprised if this scenario really awaits us.
